It's official

I haven't talked much about this but BOOK 2, to the "Goofy Newfie Crew" series is officially out on the market.

The "Goofy Newfie Crew" is set to be a 7 books series, intended for elementary age children. I decided to write a series of books to raise awareness on subjects that Elementary age children, might not really understand. What better way to talk to kids, then through a Newfie!

During my YA and First children's book publishing process, I learned how incredible hard it is to get your book and yourself, out there. I also learned it can be just as hard for illustrators. After my second Children's book had to been edited and I was ready to move forward, I started to search for another illustrator. Not as easy as you might think.

I went to art shows and craft fairs, collected business cards and talked to people. Then I thought, what about an art student... we have a few art schools in Pittsburgh, even a high school for the arts. A quick google search of the high school and I found the email address for 2 art teacher. Both responded with a solid... I have the perfect kid, Sydney. "We will talk to her and if she's interested she will reach out to you".

A week later, she was in! I emailed her my final manuscript, a few photos of "Murphy" and asked her to pick out one page and illustrate it. About a week later, she sent me her illustrated page, on canva. It was great. We agreed on terms for her to illustrate "Murphy: The Goofy Newfie with Autism". Created a business contact... She got to work.

In May, Sydney completed all 24 illustrations and Murphy's book was back in my hands to get published. In June, Sydney Abel graduated Lincoln Park high school. Sydney and I were able to meet in person this morning, to sign each others book. She showed me some of the art projects she has done, she is a brilliant artist. Sydney is heading to college in the fall, with a major in Illustration and minor in Graphic design. I wish her all the best!!!
